Deep Purple의 April은 1969년에 발표한 세 번째 앨범 'Deep Purple'에 수록된 곡으로

T.S 엘리엇의 1922년작 434행의 장편시

황무지(The Waste Land)에서 영감을 얻어서 만들어진 음악이라고...

 

April is the cruelest month, breeding

Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing

Memoires and desires, stirring

Dull roots with spring rain

사월은 가장 잔인한 달, 

죽은 땅에서 라일락꽃을 피우며, 

추억과 욕망을 섞으며, 

봄비로 생기 없는 뿌리를 깨운다

4월은 잔인한 시간

태양이 비추고 있어도

세상은 어둠 속에서 천천히 가듯 보여

아직도 4월의 비는 내리고

계곡은 고통으로 가득 찼어

당신은 나에게 이유를 설명하지 못해

난 회색 하늘을 올려봐

파랗게 보여야 하지만

당신을 보면 회색 하늘

왜 인지 물었어, 왜 그럴 수 밖에 없는지

난 울겠어, 모른다고 말하겠어

한번 정도 잊겠지 그리고 웃겠지

그러나 끝없는 4월의 감정이 다시 오면

그들이 오듯이 4월의 외로움이 오면

마음의 어둠 속에서 밝은 것을 볼 수 있어

그러나 태양을 느낄 수 없다면 아무것도 존재하지 않아

개인적으로 Child in Time과 함께 좋아하는 곡입니다

오늘 아니면 올리기 머쓱할 듯해서 올려봅니다~~

이곡 걸어놓고 생맥주 500cc 마시고 돌아왔던 아주 오래전 기억도 나네요~~ㅎㅎ
